4 out of 5 stars Casino action in a PC application   February 1, 2010

I purchased this program not for myself, but for my elderly grandmother, who loves slot machines, bingo, and scratch-off lottery tickets. For an octogenarian woman, computer usage can seem like dark wizardry, but I was able to teach her how to play this game easily, and she has amused herself for many sleepless nights trying to beat her previous best high scores. When I was young, she never had anything nice to say about video games, but now, she's become nearly as avid a gamer as me!

1 out of 5 stars Thought it would be fun   January 31, 2010

I saw this game and thought it would be fun. I read the reviews and thought I wouldn't be wasting my time. I purchased the game, downloaded it and started to set up my profile.

While setting up my profile, I went to click "Next" after typing in my name and the button would go down but nothing happened. I had to hit "enter" on my keyboard for it to go to the next screen.

I then was brought to the first screen for playing. None of the buttons would work. Not with the mouse or keyboard.

I really wanted to play this game but for some reason, it won't work for me. I just hope I can get my money refunded.

4 out of 5 stars A good time-killer   September 15, 2009

This is a well-polished version of the slot parlor game Slingo. It's been expanded to include a lot of real game options, so that it's not just an exercise in button-pressing and reel-watching.

A cross between slots and Bingo (hence "Slingo"), the game has a lot of elements of chance to it. Your Bingo board is randomly generated, the reels spin at random, and there are powerups and bonuses hidden under certain squares. However, there is actually some strategy and growth involved! You pick game options before starting out, regulated by a "star" system (certain options are more expensive and you only get so many stars to spend) and slot positions ()you can only choose a certain number of options). The more expensive options usually result in easier play or higher scores. You start off very limited, but you unlock options and get more stars in the course of play.

I enjoy fine-tuning the game options to have unique gameplay, and though I suppose I may groow tired of it in weeks to come, it's held my interest a lot longer than many more expensive games. For seven bucks you really can't go wrong, and the half-hour trial givers you a decent chance to tell whether you love it or hate it. I play a couple of games while doing other chores on my computer and it's been fun.

So why not five stars? Well, I play World of Warcraft, and I was hoping to have a background game to play while taking those long Gryphon rides. Unfortunately Slingo Supreme won't allow that; it complains that you need to update DirectX. I imagine it's getting an error code from the graphics card while initializing and just assumes the drivers are outdated. So, it looks like I'll be playing Mahjong Titans during lulls in the WoW action. Oh well. I still don't regret the purchase.
